About Ishmael Mustapha

Ishmael Mustapha is a dedicated educator and an advocate for youth development, based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Born in Treherne, Manitoba, Ishmael’s journey from an energetic student-athlete to a respected mathematics teacher and coach is marked by a steadfast commitment to education, resilience, and community engagement.

Ishmael began his teaching career at Maples Collegiate in 1998, before moving to the University of Winnipeg Collegiate in 2000. There, he taught mathematics until 2018 and also taught courses for the Faculty of Education and the Department of Mathematics. “Education is about seeing potential where others might not. It’s about transforming opportunities into successful outcomes,” Ishmael explains.
